Construction

Completed Work

The construction works carried out to date to make way for the SouthGate development include complete demolition of the Dairy and Engineering buildings, the old SouthGate Centre, Churchill House, Ham Gardens Car Park and the Manvers Street Bus Station. We have successfully relocated the temporary bus station from Manvers Street to Avon Street for a two-year period until the new station is built at Dorchester Street.

A one-way traffic system and bus-only route has been introduced to New Orchard Street for a 6-month period.

To minimise disruption to Bath, Multi has designed the construction process in stages, in order to deliver six blocks of retail as they are completed. This means that shops will open in SouthGate as soon as 2009.
